One thing I don't see many people mention before Imperator Augustus was how OP Rome and chariots were before the stats of most units were nerfed.Įmpire Divided was a nice surprise because, as many people who've played Empire and Attila know, CA doesn't usually go to back to previous games to give them patches. It took about a year of patches for the game to run smoothly. Poor optimization, wonky A.I, game speed similar to Shogun 2, and a bunch of bugs made the game virtually unplayable. Some of us (like myself) pre-ordered the game thinking it was going to be a revolutionary title that would surpass Rome. Most of us remember the early days of Rome 2. Rome 2 is a great game now but it wasn't always. But those naval landings felt epic man, they had some good bones to work with in R2/Attilas framework, Im really happy they kept at fixing their product, even though the fucked up major in the beginning. Anyway, the Reconquista siege experience was definitely in part because the AI had a full stack ontop of a top tier garrison so it basically it had more than enough units to defend half the city. Honorable mention to Fall of the Samurai or even Vanilla Shogun 2 sieges, can be pretty fun. Granted this is Attila, so maybe it doesnt count, but I remember launching a joint Naval/Land invasion of a top tier Capital in the Reconquista DLC I can't remember the faction name but it was near modern day Morroco, probably the most fun siege Ive ever had in any TW. I still consider going back sometimes, I miss features like Naval Invasions. I wouldve stopped playing if they hadnt made the changes they did. Anyway, yeah R2 now is not the R2 that first came out. R2 had full revamped systems, like politics and I believe some pretty big building changes. Its a little fuzzy, but I dont remember any big changes for S2 that werent DLC. R2 was the first TW that I felt like started having huge improvements with patches. I remember how hyped up R2 was, with Carthage and whatnot.īut I also wouldnt deny that they made some really big and great strides. There probably is a faction that hated it, put it down, and went back to R1(awesome mods) or Shogun 2 or Med 2 or just stopped gaming. Think we missed one?
